Original Stars Support Aniston’s “9 to 5” Remake
What Aniston won’t have a hard time getting is the support of the original trio who played three co-workers who join forces to get revenge on a sexist boss. When Aniston announced the project last year, actress Lily Tomlin told Variety โWe hope she has great success. Itโs a hard nut to crack because the issues are somewhat different.โ In the same interview, Jane Fonda said, “โI hope she does it. Thereโs still the undercurrent of the same kind of negativity towards females โฆ [theyโre] not easy-to-solve issues. So weโre very eager to see what they do.”
And Dolly Parton went a step further, saying she’d love to appear in the film. Parton told E! “I’m hoping they use my song and I’m hoping they might find a way to have Lily, Jane and me come back in.”ย
Oscar-winning “Juno” screenwriter Diablo Cody is writing the screenplay, which reportedly brings the story into the current day. While the script is said to be well-underway, no plot details have been released.
