Jack Nicholson made a rare public appearance on The “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary special.
The 87-year-old actor stunned fans when he introduced Adam Sandler during the live NBC special on February 16. Nicholson was dressed wearing a dark jacket and beret with the New York Yankees logo in it as he introduced Sandler from his seat in the audience.
“Ladies and gentlemen, Adam Sandler,” Nicholson said as he smiled widely and clapped his hands.
“Yeah, baby! Let’s hear it for Jack, baby! Jack made it out tonight! Thank you, brother,” Sandler replied before beginning his poignant “50 Years” song performance that looked back at the show’s legacy.

Surprisingly, Nicholson has never hosted “Saturday Night Live.” The Oscar-winning actor appeared as a presenter during the show’s 40th anniversary special in 2015.
On social media, fans reacted to Nicholson’s surprise appearance on the 2025 “SNL50: The Anniversary Special.”
“OMG!!! 🥹👏👏❤️ great to see Jack Nicholson,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
“Oh wow so good to see him in the public he looks happy to be there 😎,” another wrote.
“Pretty epic to see the Jack!” a third fan agreed.
“I shot up out of my seat and gasped so loud when I realized who I was looking at…JACK!!! 🙌” added another.
Jack Nicholson Worked With Adam Sandler in 2003
GettyNicholson’s TV appearance comes 15 years after he filmed his last movie. Nicholson’s final film appearance was in the 2010 movie “How Do I Know,” per IMDb. He also has a past history with Sandler, having worked with him in the 2003 movie “Anger Management.”
Nicholson also attended Sandler’s foot and hand print ceremony at the Mann’s Chinese Theatre on May 17, 2005.
In 2013, Nicholson clarified to the Sun that he hadn’t officially retired from acting, but that he was simply taking fewer roles because it is less inclined to “be out there.” According to Vanity Fair, Nicholson explained, “The movie business is the greatest business but I only want to do films that move people, films about emotions and people.”
Nicholson even scaled back on his beloved courtside seats to see the Los Angeles Lakers. In April 2023, he was photographed cheering his team on at Crypto.com Arena for the first time since October 19, 2021, Deadline reported at the time. Nicholson’s presence at that game was highlighted with a Jumbotron reel of his roles in “The Shining” and Tim Burton’s “Batman” before the camera panned to him sitting in his signature courtside seat once again.
