HGTV viewers were asked in a Reddit threat about personalities from a design-related show that they would like to see return to the network. There was no shortage of responses.
One name that that frequently got mentioned was Candice Olson.
โIf I only had ONE choice… it would hands down be Candice Olson,โ said one response. โShe was awesome and she actually went through the process to explain how and why she came up with design choices. I really miss that part of HGTV and I learned a lot from her, plus she had a great style.
โCandice Olson is such a versatile designer,โ another commenter agreed. โVery stylish but also accessible.โ
Candice Olson Has Focused on Her Design Business Since Leaving TV 10-Plus Years Ago
On her website, Olson noted that she was the host of HGTVโs โDivine Designโ for eight seasons, from 2003-2011, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the design process, from the initial sketches to the final reveal. She then hosted a second show, โCandice Tells All,โ from 2011-2013, which delved even deeper into the world of interior design, examining fundamental design principles while showcasing more complex renovations.
A YouTube Channel titled โHGTV News & Updatesโ stated that Olson also made regular appearances on other HGTV shows such as โDesign Starโ and โMakeover Manorโ during those years, then stepped away from TV work to focus on the real process of interior design, which she frequently showcases on her Instagram page.
Fans Lament Abrupt Dismissal of Programs Involving Nate Berkus & Jeremiah Brent
A design duo that appeared in many answers was Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent.
โLove these guys,โ exclaimed one respondent.
The married couple โ who are still together, as confirmed by a Valentineโs Day post on Nateโs Instagram page โ hosted a pair of programs on HGTV between 2020 and 2021, albeit with a limited number of episodes. According to IMDB, โNate and Jeremiah: Save My Houseโ ran for three seasons and 13 episodes, showing the duo help clients fix renovations gone bad, and โThe Nate and Jeremiah Home Projectโ ran for two seasons and 14 episodes from 2020-2021, with the twosome helping families transform spaces and emotions by decluttering homes and creating meaningful spaces that honored the past.
โHGTV News & Updatesโ reported that the programs were not renewed, much to fansโ dismay, due in large part to a shift in the networkโs focus to โother projects and new programming strategies,โ while also noting that โthe couple’s growing commitments outside of HGTV may have also played a role.โ
Other designers that viewers miss included Sarah Richardson, Leanne Ford and Christopher Lowell.
