George Clooney has been married for more than ten years now, and had two children.. but there’s one thing he and his wife have never done.
The 63-year-old actor says he and his 47-year-old wife Amal have never had an argument!
Clooney made the claim while appearing on “CBS Mornings”ย alongside host Gayle King, to promote his Broadway showย “Good Night, and Good Luck.”ย
Sporting jet black hair for his role as legendary CBS newsman Edward R Murrow in the play, Clooney told King that he and wife Amal are “having a really great time in life.”
Recalling that he had told King in a previous interview that the pair never fight, he said, “I remember we were here with you once before, and I remember we said weโd never had an argument. We still havenโt. Weโre trying to find something to fight about!”
George Clooney Says His Twins Are ‘Curious and Funny’
One thing the couple has no trouble agreeing on is how wonderful their 7-year-old twins Alexander and Ella are.
“Our kids are 7, about to be 8, which is a pretty great age. Theyโre really curious and funny. Every parent thinks their kids are great โ our kids are funny and make us laugh.”
“I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met this incredible woman,” Clooney went on to say. “I feel as if I hit the jackpot. There isnโt a day that goes by where I donโt think Iโm the luckiest man in the world. So itโs great.”
George Clooney Finds Success on Broadway
Clooney and his family are currently living in New York City while George stars in the Broadway play, ย โGood Night and Good Luckโ at the Winter Garden Theater.
The show is an adaptation of Clooneyโs 2005 movie by the same name. Both tell the story of legendary newsman Edward R. Murrowโs exposรฉ of Senator Joseph McCarthy. McCarthy is the Wisconsin senator whose name spawned the word โMcCarthyismโ when he launched a campaign falsely accusing people of being Communists in the 1940โs and 50โs.
In the movie version, Clooney played Murrowโs producer Fred Friendly, deciding he didnโt have โthe gravitasโ to take on the Murrow role in his 40โs. Fast forward 20 years and all of that has changed, with Clooney stepping into Murrowโs shoes on the stage to rave reviews.
New York Times critic Jesse Green wrote of his performance, “George Clooney makes Edward R. Murrow a saint of sane journalism for a world that still needs one.”
Once a Confirmed Bachelor, Clooney Is Now ‘All-In’ on Marriage
Clooney once famously bet actress Nicole Kidman $10,000 that he would remain single and childless at age 40, and won that bet. The story goes that he returned the money and offered double or nothing that he’d continue the streak to age 50. He won that bet yet again, not marrying until he was 52.
But Clooney wasn’t the only one in the relationship who thought his single status was set in stone.
Amal Clooney toldย Vogueย in 2018 that falling in love with George “felt like the most natural thing in the world.”
“Itโs the one thing in life that I think is the biggest determinant of happiness, and itโs the thing you have the least control over,” she said of their marriage. โAre you going to meet this person? I was 35 when I met him. It wasnโt obvious that it was going to happen for me. And I wasnโt willing or excited about the idea of getting married or having a family in the absence of that.”
