Luke, Carrie and Lionel Look For the Next ‘American Idol’ As Auditions Open

Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood are looking for the next “American Idol” as nationwide auditions get underway.

All three have announced their return for another round as judges on the reality singing competition. And now they’re ready to get the party started with open auditions.

And they say all that’s missing is you!

The trio put up a video on Instagram spoofing a return to school, with Lionel Richie as the “professor of positivity.” Luke Bryan, appropriately, introduced himself as the “professor of fun.” Carrie Underwood promised that those who sign up for her class will be ‘blown away.”

The spoof ended with the real purpose, telling Idol hopefuls when Open Call tryouts are in each region of the United States.

‘Idol Across America’ Is Looking For the Next Superstar

Idol wannabes have two ways to try to earn a spot in front of Carrie, Luke and Lionel.

Singers can choose to submit a video at americanidol.com/auditions.

Or they can audition live face-to-face with an Idol producer over Zoom as part of “Idol Across America.”

Each of the 50 states has its own designated audition day. That kicks off with Alabama on August 27 all the way through Wyoming September 22.

The nationwide open call starts September 3 and regional auditions include the East Coast September 12, the South September 15, the West and Midwest September 18 and a second nationwide call on September 24.

You can find full details on how to submit a video audition here.

Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie Gear Up for Season 24

While Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie have all signed on the dotted line to return for season 24 of “American Idol,” host Ryan Seacrest is another story.

At press time, Seacrest has not yet made a deal with ABC. But sources say he’s expected to return to his post according to Deadline.

Before the big announcement that all three judges would return to Idol, both Luke and Carrie were cautiously optimistic about their return.

Luke Bryan told USA Today, “Me and (host) Ryan (Seacrest) and Lionel have been here for eight years and have really worked hard.”

And Carrie Underwood confided, “I feel like there’s a lot of contemplating and things like that to do, but I had a lot of fun. You never know where the good Lord’s going to take me, but I’m glad I’m here.”

The new season of “American Idol” is set to debut on ABC next January.
