The “Meet the Putmans” family is asking for continued prayers as they recover from the heartbreaking car accident that claimed the lives of three beloved relatives. “We wanted to share an update and continue asking for prayers for Noah, Gia, and our entire family,” the family wrote in a statement shared on their Growing Up Putmans Instagram page on October 8.
“We can truly feel the power of your prayers and God’s presence through every up and down. Please continue to keep the faith and keep praying for Noah, Gia, and our family as we walk this long road of healing.”
The family confirmed that 11-year-old Gia remains hospitalized following the September 26 crash in Michigan’s Tuscola County. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred when a semi-truck failed to stop at a sign and collided with a Jeep carrying eight members of the Putman family.
Remembering the Loved Ones Lost
The Putmans previously confirmed that Bill “Papa” Putman, his wife Barb “Neenee” Putman, and their daughter-in-law Megan Putman lost their lives in the tragic crash. Other family members were taken to nearby hospitals with serious injuries.
“Gia had a rough night; no one got much sleep. Her ICP and blood pressure were high and unstable for a while, but praise God, the doctors were able to get things under control,” the family shared. “She’s doing better now, and they’re focusing on keeping her stable and taking it one day at a time. They were also able to remove her chest tube today, which is such a blessing and another step forward.”
Blake, 37, and his daughters, Lulu, 13, and Alena, 11, have since been discharged from the hospital and are “doing well,” according to the update.
Hope & Healing for Noah
CanvaBlake and Megan’s 15-year-old son, Noah, continues to make progress in his rehabilitation. “Noah is doing well in rehab and continuing to amaze us,” the family wrote. “He’s been sleeping better, talking, eating, and moving around more each day.”
They added that his therapy sessions have been encouraging: “In occupational therapy today, he was walking back and forth and even bouncing a ball on the floor! His biggest area of recovery right now is cognitive therapy, but we know God is working and healing him in His perfect timing.”
The Putman family rose to fame in 2017 with their TLC series “Meet the Putmans,” which followed 25 relatives living under one roof in Michigan. They later revived the reality show on YouTube as “Growing Up Putman” in 2021, continuing to share family milestones and updates with fans.
Following the accident, the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office announced that the truck driver, Pavel B. Shchukin, faces eight charges, including three counts of moving violation causing death and five counts of serious injury.
Despite the heartbreak, the Putmans remain focused on faith and gratitude. “Thank you all for the continued prayers, love and support,” the family wrote in a September 28 post. “We feel your strength and faith surrounding us. Please keep lifting Noah and Gia up as they heal.”
