Ed Sheeran Interrupts Historic Tour to Drop Revealing Information

As he prepared to close out the India portion of what has already been an historic tour through South Asia, Ed Sheeran casually dropped some potentially revealing information on social media about a forthcoming album.

A February 13 Instagram post by the userย @memezar noted that Sheeran had recently changed his profile picture, which generated a string of comments wondering what mathematical symbol Sheeran would use as the name of his next album, given that some of the other albums in his catalog are titled “+,” “x,” “รท,” “=” and “-.” Sheeran, who is in the final stretch of his Mathematics Tour, cheekily responded with what appeared to be an answer to the questions.

โ€œirony is if you ask me anything maths related i would fail the question, i never finished high school. Play coming soon though,โ€ he wrote.

The revelation drew nearly 2,000 likes and several comments, including one fan who stated, โ€œCan’t wait for Play โ–ถ๏ธ Sooooo excited! ๐Ÿคฉโ€

Ed Sheeran Became First International Artist to Play in Bhutan

Itโ€™s been a whirlwind few weeks for Sheeran, who in May 2023 served as a guest judge on โ€œAmerican Idol.โ€ On January 24, Sheeran became the first international artist to perform a concert in Bhutan, a milestone on which he reflected with a video that he shared on Instagram the next day.

โ€œIโ€™ve been all around the world, been to some amazing places, but Iโ€™ve never done anything like this before,โ€ he said in the video. โ€œTo be able to visit a country like Bhutan, to be able to stand on stage and bring this show here. I can remember playing to an empty room, and now I get to play at the first international concert in Bhutan โ€ฆ ever.โ€

Ed Sheeran Attracts Attention With Activities Throughout India

Sheeran followed that up with six stops in India, as reported by The Economic Times, with the last concert scheduled for February 15 in Delhi. While in the country, Sheeran attracted international attention when police in Bengaluru shut down his informal street performance, despite, as reported by BBC, writing in his Instagram stories that, โ€œWe had permission to busk btw, hence us playing in that exact spot, was planned out before, it wasn’t just us randomly turning up.โ€

Sheeran also garnered significant media coverage throughout India on February 10, including an article by The Times of India, when he took a ride on the back of scooter with renowned Indian singer Arijit Singh through the streets of Singhโ€™s hometown in Jiaganj, West Bengal, without either a helmet or security. Video of โ€œthe unlikely duoโ€ was posted by to YouTube by Etimes, the Times of Indiaโ€™s entertainment source.
