Denise Richards Explains Why Her Ex Made Surprise Cameo on Her New Reality Show

Denise Richards  said it was a no-brainer for her ex-husband Charlie Sheen to appear on her new reality show, “Denise Richards and Her Wild Things.”

In a March 2025 appearance on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, Richards agreed with host Andy Cohen that it was a “major” that Sheen, whom she divorced in 2006, agreed to a cameo on her show. The series also stars the exes’ daughters Sami, 20, and Lola,19, as well as Richards’ 13-year-old daughter Eloise, whom she shares with her current husband, Aaron Phypers.

After Cohen questioned if the “pitch” to Sheen was that he would be “supporting the family by appearing” on the show, Richards noted that it was really his duty as a father. “No, he should,” she said of her ex. “It’s, you know, they’re his daughters and he should be supporting them.”

It is unclear how many scenes Sheen will appear in, but Richards teased her ex’s cameo while speaking on Bravo’s Hot Mic” podcast. “No one’s ever seen Charlie and I after our divorce sitting in a room talking,” she said in February 2025. “And I think that’s one of the things I loved that we were able to capture was us having that moment of sharing that.”

When Richards was a main cast member on RHOBH  from 2019 to 2020, her daughters were briefly shown on camera, but Sheen did not make any appearances.

At the time, the “Anger Management” star told Extra that he wasn’t a viewer of the “Real Housewives” franchise, hence his absence from the show. “You’re gonna see the girls,” he teased, adding,  “I don’t appear on shows I don’t watch.”

After Richards quit the Bravo reality show after a short run, Sheen made it clear he had nothing to do with her decision. “She does what she wants in these matters,” the actor told Page Six via his publicist in 2020. “And I applaud her decision of ‘one and done.’”

Things were not always easy and amicable with Richards and Sheen. On “Andy Cohen Live,” Richards looked back on her roller coaster relationship with the father of her two eldest daughters. “It’s always up and down. It probably always will be up and down, but we’re in a good upside right now, he and I,” she said.

Richards also told Cohen that she doesn’t consider herself to be “co-parenting” with Sheen. “You know, quite frankly, I don’t call it co-parenting. I call it parenting,” she said. “He has his way. I have my way. Always have and I didn’t, you know, it’s funny. I wish it was co-parenting. It would be nice, but you know, I always try to keep things in a good place with him and for me, I’d rather keep things peaceful.”

During a March 4 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Richards said her former husband was “very excited” for their daughters and for the family’s new show, “Denise Richards and Her Wild Things.” “And you will see him on the show if you watch it,” she teased once again.
