Tom Schwartz gave a surprising update on his personal life. Nearly three years after his split from his ex-wife, Katie Maloney, the former “Vanderpump Rules” star said she’s ready for kids—despite having no desire to date.
Schwartz opened up on the January 28 episode of the “LadyGang” podcast, but his remarks about dating left some fans confused.
According to BravoTV.com, Schwartz, 42, has been linked with 24-year-old media planner Sophia Skoro since mid-2023.
Tom Schwartz Said He Wants Children
When Schwartz was with Maloney, he seemed hesitant to have children. In season 9, the two visited a fertility specialist, where he was told to cut down on partying. The couple split up soon after.
But during a 2023 appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” Schwartz said he had “baby fever” once he became single. “Yeah, bad. I got baby fever right now,” he admitted, according to BravoTV.com. “I don’t know if it’s just a phase.”
On “LadyGang,” he was asked if he wanted children, and he replied, “I would say it’s probably the biggest void in my life. “
“I don’t want get too emotional,” he added. ‘But yeah. I want to have kids. I want to have two kids.”
“I come from a big family. I know the trials and tribulations of having a kid,” he added. “It’s no walk in the park. Yeah. But I do want that. I feel like ultimately, I don’t think my life will be complete or fulfilled without having kids someday.”
The bar owner also shared that he purchased an “idyllic little property in Florida” that he is “really excited” about for his future family. “It’s like three acres I have,” he said. “I have this little magical pond. And I’m finally gonna start building a little house for my dad on there. And my family.”
Schwartz said his long-term goal is to build a family ranch with llamas, pigs, and goats. “I want produce,” he added of his plans for the property located outside of Amelia Island. “I’m super excited about that.”
Tom Schwartz Said He Is Not Interested in Dating
While he has babies on the brain, Schwartz has repeatedly said he has no interest in dating.
In early 2024, he appeared on “Watch What Happens Live” and refused to confirm rumors about his relationship with Skoro. “I would say I am not, not dating. I’m hanging out,” he told host Andy Cohen at the time. “I think she would prefer that I didn’t say, but I’m hanging out.”
He reiterated that fact on “LadyGang.” “After the most insane two years of my life— and that’s not me being crying victim or anything, I did a lot of it to myself— but I just, dating is like the last thing on my mind,” he said on the 2025 podcast. “There’s someone I really enjoy hanging out with, but yeah. Sorry for the lame answer.”
He also shared, “Maybe I’m a fool, but I’m not foolish enough to rush into a relationship in which I’m going to have a child just for the sake of knocking out a few babies.”
“But like, I also, like, by the way, I’m happy right now. I’m chilling. I’m very peaceful. I’m happy in my personal life,” he clarified on the podcast.
As for Skoro, during a 2024 appearance with Schwartz on the “Viall Files” podcast, she was asked about her thoughts on having children. “I definitely need some time on that one,” she replied at the time.
