Tom Bergeron Pleads With ABC on Live TV for a Huge Change on ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Fans of โ€œDancing With the Starsโ€ may remember a time when the format of the show had performances on one night, and the โ€œDWTSโ€ results were revealed in a separate episode the following night. This two-night structure helped build anticipation, opened up bigger voting windows, and created a special results show full of drama, guest performances, and some behind-the-scenes content.

However, producers changed things up in recent years and shifted to a one-night format. Now, the performances, voting, and eliminations all take place in one evening. During his stint as guest judge tonight on โ€œDancing With the Starsโ€ season 34, former host Tom Bergeron pleaded with producers to bring back the standalone results show.

Tom Bergeron Makes Plea to โ€˜Dancing With the Starsโ€™ Producers

Each week this season, including tonightโ€™s show before the results were announced, Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough have revealed that a record number of votes have been cast. The ratings for the show have been stellar this season, too.

Because of that, Tom Bergeron took a moment during his last time giving feedback to make a plea to the producers. He said bring back the results show on โ€œDancing With the Stars.โ€

The show is popular, so bring back the results show. This would allow the West Coast viewers to have their own chance of voting for their favorite couples.

During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bergeron said, โ€œThe ratings have proven itโ€™s time to bring back the results show. I always mourned the loss of that Tuesday show.โ€

Why Was the Second Episode Eliminated?

While many fans of โ€œDancing With the Starsโ€ have been missing Bergeron as host, others have been missing the second weekly episode even more.

In 2013, ABC decided to mix up its schedule. Instead of two nights of โ€œDWTSโ€ every week, viewers would only get one, two-hour episode.

The performances and results would all be worked into one episode. It did help ABC with their programming, but it also left people on the West Coast out of the voting.

The Fans Agree With Tom Bergeron

While Tom was sharing his thoughts on bringing back the results show on โ€œDancing With the Stars,โ€ the fans were agreeing with him on social media.

One user on X wrote, โ€œTWO NIGHTS A WEEK!!!! THANK YOU TOM!! AMERICA NEEDS TWO NIGHTS.โ€

Another user added, โ€œTOM YES BRING BACK TWO NIGHT SHOWS YES TOM BERGERON,โ€ and a third user wrote, โ€œโ€˜BRING BACK THE RESULTS SHOW!โ€™ – Tom. Hear that Disney?! Listen to the man!โ€

What do you think of producers bringing back the results show on โ€œDancing With the Starsโ€ in the future?
