Actress Brooke Shields is letting fans in on the secret to her long marriage to husband Chris Henchy.
The former Hallmark actress opened up about that- and a lot of other things- in the May issue of British Vogue.
Shields, who will turn 60 on May 31, and Henchy will celebrate their 24th anniversary just five days before that on May 26.
But it seems how the couple stays together involves a certain amount of, well, NOT staying together.
When Vogue asks, “The key to a lasting marriage?” Shields replies, “He’s in California, I’m in New York. It’s like a more extreme version of having separate bathrooms.”
How Chris Henchy Made Brooke Shields Cry
Henchy made Shields, and their two daughters Grier and Rowan, cry by bridging that distance for Grier’s birthday party.
Grier, who is the couple’s youngest child, turned 19 on April 18.
Brooke posted a video on her Instagram account April 24 of Henchy unexpectedly showing up for Grier’s birthday party, which caused the mother and daughters to burst into tears. In the caption, Brooke writes, “Dad of the century surprised @grierhhenchy for her birthday… but really he surprised me and @rowanhenchyy too!!! We all cried… he said it was just a flight ❤️”
Brooke Shields Talks Aging in the Public Eye
The actress who brought Abby Knight to life in Hallmark’s “Flower Shop Mysteries” is equally succinct when it comes to how she’s dealing with aging in the public eye.
Brooke has become an outspoken proponent of being allowed to age gracefully, even writing a book titled, “Brooke Shields Is Not Allowed to Get Old.”
But while she may have been able to fill an entire book talking about the perils of aging in Hollywood, she was able to sum it all up in one sentence for Vogue.
When asked: “Share the greatest misconception about ageing,” Shields replied, “That it’s to be feared and dreaded.”
Shields certainly seems to have very little to fear based on recent pictures she posted on the beach in a bikini. In the caption she wrote, “Wearing my brand new @indiahicksstyle x @sealevelaustralia bathing suit!!”
But while she seems to have the whole body confidence thing figured out, her famous eyebrows are another matter.
And it’s a topic British Vogue didn’t shy away from.
The magazine queried, “Is there a secret to perfect brows?” But this time, Shields did not have an answer, simple or otherwise. She replied, “Over 40? I’m still trying to figure that out with our Commence labs.”
