The Hallmark Channel is premiering “Love on the Danube: Love Song” on the TV network for the first time on Saturday May 17, at 8p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. ‘Love on the Danube: Love Song’ Was Filmed in Hungary
If you find yourself swept away by the romantic scenery in “Love on the Danube: Love Song,” you’re not alone. The Hallmark film transports viewers into the heart of Europe, and has some breathtaking backdrops along the way.
The movie was filmed primarily in Budapest, Hungary’s capital, according to posts by the cast and crew. Here’s a look at some of the notable locations.
Hungarian Parliament Building
This iconic structure is on the eastern bank of the Danube and is a highlight in several scenes.
Gellért Thermal Bath
Known for its Art Nouveau design and healing waters, the Gellért Thermal Bath is used for some of the film’s most memorable moments. According to posts by the cast, the production team filmed in the women’s section at night. Pamela Sinha took this picture in the baths and wrote, “night shoot at the Gellert Baths in Budapest.”
She also shared a video, writing, “night shoot at the Gellert Baths. And a rock n’roll camera team ♥️.”
St. Matthias Church
Another location was St. Matthias Church (Church of Our Lady of Buda Castle). The beautiful church served as a beautiful location for the choir scenes.
Sinha shared in a post, “St. Matthias church in Budapest—first filming allowed in its history.”
While Budapest is the primary filming location, the film also was shot on a river cruise down the Danube, and possibly in other picturesque European cities along the river, Parade reported.
Sinha posted the following on her Instagram account when the movie came to a wrap in December of 2023.
“And that’s a WRAP. Ironically, for this stage actor to be filming this character’s last scenes where she is most at home… on a STAGE,” she wrote.
Mark Holden also took to Instagram on wrap day to express his gratitude in a reel.
“Well that’s a wrap in Budapest with this group of fantastic people. What a great adventure it’s been. Back home for Christmas with my family. Can’t wait!” he wrote.
Nazneen posted on Instagram about the movie, saying “Watch @wesbrown225 and I tromp through Germany, Austria and Budapest in #loveonthedanube 💞🛥️ the story, the historic sights, and serendipity of this beautiful ensemble will make your hearts soar! It certainly made mine skip a beat ❣️❣️”
She also posted: “3rd (well really 4th) times a charm back in Budapest with my love @carlodanterota and my two favorite people in the whole wide world (my kids if you’re wondering).”
Wes Brown wrote on December 4, 2023: “Beautiful weekend visiting the Christmas markets in Vienna! Now, back to Budapest for the last three days of filming one of the most beautiful & unique projects I’ve ever gotten to be apart of (3 countries, half dozen cities), and I hope you guys love it because we sure have had fun making it! “

Nazneen Contractor is Sarah. According to her Hallmark bio, she was born in India and raised in Africa until she turned seven. Since then, she’s traveled the world, ultimately landing with her family in Canada where she spent most of her childhood years. Some of her TV and film credits include Kayla on “24” in season eight, “Rules of Engagement,” “Covert Affairs,” “Heroes Reborn,” “Star Trek Into Darkness,” “Ransom,” and more.
