Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis, co-hosts of HGTVโs โUnsellable Houses,โ have been bringing HGTV viewers joy since their show began in 2019. The last episode of the fifth season aired on November 27, 2024 with an emotional season finale that saw the twins help sell the house of a dear friend who was moving away.
Though no official announcement has been made regarding a sixth season, fans of the show have made it known that they are waiting with bated breath. A recent post on the Facebook group called โOfficial Unsellable Houses Fan Pageโ asking if the show had been renewed garnered plenty of responses.
โHope sooo! I live for this show!โ one commentator stated.
A YouTube channel called โSeries Centralโ posted a video on September 9, 2024 that looked at the potential of a sixth season for โone of HGTVโs most loved shows,โ citing the popularity of the series as well as the twinโs win on the fifth season of HGTVโs โRock the Blockโ from last year to suggest the likelihood of a new season premiering in fall 2025.
Co-Hosts of “Unsellable Houses” Frequently Update Fans Via Social Media
In the meantime, the twin sisters and real estate consultants continue sharing their expertise with the world. They are both frequent posters on Instagram, either via the Lamb and Company page, or on their personal accounts (Davis or Lamb).
On February 21, they sat down for an interview with Katherine Page, the host of โTalk of Alabamaโ for ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, Alabama. In town for the Birmingham Home Show February 21-23, Lamb and Davis discussed the importance of finding a working combination of the now with the classic, and when it comes to deciding whether to jump on the latest trend in home renovation, the duo says it usually boils down to one question: โDoes it bring you joy?โ
โThereโs a big difference between a style and a trend,โ Lamb said. โA style will last a long time, and a trend is something that comes and goes. So thereโs a balance between the two.โ
It really is as simple as figuring out what makes you happy.
โI always say thereโs a joy factor you have to take into consideration,โ Lamb said. โThereโs what the style is, or the trend is, but then thereโs a joy factor. Does it bring you joy?โ
Of course, too much joy for one person could bring pain to others. So the duo stress the need, particularly for those who may be looking to sell their house in the near future, to not go overboard in the trendy direction.
โBecause as a buyer comes in, they may make a sacrifice for โa trend,โ but theyโre not going to want to see it trendy all throughout the house,โ Lamb said. โIt will be too much, too overwhelming.โ
It also rarely makes good sense, the twins stated, to change a house dramatically from the rest of the neighborhood.
โWe always say look at what the homes around you are doing,โ Davis said. โWhat is the value of your neighborsโ, and try to keep that in mind. You donโt want to over-update your home, especially if you plan on selling it in the next five to 10 years.โ
And you can never overestimate the power of โcurb appeal,โ particularly with so many potential buyers making decisions based on online photos.
โIf we donโt get those pictures right, theyโre just going to keep on swiping by,โ Davis said.
Lyndsay Lamb & Leslie Davis Urge Homeowners to Consider ‘The Joy Factor’
Lamb and CompanyBut in the end, always remember the target audience, and if that is you, feel free to go crazy. Like Davis said she recently did with the paint in her bedroom.
โI did the, very much so a trend, I did the color wash where I painted my ceilings, walls and trims all the same color, and I went a really, really dark, moody โMidnight in New Yorkโ green,โ Davis said.
โItโs really, really dark, really dark green. And I love it. Itโs my bedroom, I wanted it dark and moody.โ
โIt brings Leslie joy to have her bedroom that dark and moody, it brings me joy to have something else,โ Lamb added. โIโm living there, sheโs living there, youโre living in that house. So whatโs the joy factor for you?โ
