Bunnie XO, whose real name is Alyssa DeFord, recently opened up on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast about why she hasnโt been seen out and about with husband Jelly Roll over the past several months.
She revealed that the emotional and physical demands of their ongoing in vitro fertilization journey have kept her largely at home.
โSomebody said the other day, โThey used to always be together. Now you never see them together,โโ she shared. โIโm like, do you guys not know for the past six months Iโve been trying to make a baby?โ
Bunnie emphasized that she feels fortunate to be able to continue working remotely, whereas Jelly Roll must attend appearances and handle his busy touring schedule. She added, โMy husband has to work to [expletive] bring home the bacon.โ
โLuckily, I get the luxury of working from home. He doesnโt. He has to make appearances, but I literally have been on IVF meds for [expletive] six months and going through heartbreak and [expletive] so much [expletive],โ she added.
Bunnie XO Has Been Open About Her Journey
The couple has been incredibly open about their IVF journey and has bravely shared the emotional highs and lows.
In March, Bunnie discussed how she was managing the rollercoaster of emotionsโfrom worry to hormonal strainโas she strives to bring a baby into their family alongside Jelly Rollโs two childrenโBailee Ann and Noah “Buddy”.
โHonestly, when I was going through this, I realized how lonely of a journey IVF is. Itโs very lonely. And granted, you have people surrounding you, and like, you know, hopefully if youโre going through it, you have, you know, friends, family who love you and know youโre going through it,โ she said, per Newsweek.
She added, โBut at the same time, itโs just you and these hormones and the waiting and the egg retrieval. And like, youโre the only person who can go through that, you know? So itโs a lot to bear.โ
Jelly Roll Is On His Own Journey
All the while, Jelly Roll has been making changes to better support their future familyโmost notably by losing a ton of weight in an effort to live longer, stay healthy, and be there for future children.
He told singer Eric Church in a conversation that he realized he needed to make the change as he didn’t think he had many years left.
“There was no way I was gonna live to be 50 years old. I was never gonna have the Eric Church career I dreamed of or close to it, if I didnโt do something about the health,” he said. “I couldnโt do all the emotional stuff, all the travel, all the physical work โฆ and at that weight.”
