On Tuesday, Sept. 2, the 68-year-old singer shared an Instagram post marking their 47th wedding anniversary. Her tribute included a photo of Emilio’s handwritten note that read, “Love you! To forever. 47 more to come,” signed, “Love, baby.” A gold heart rested on the letter, with a framed photo of the couple kissing in the background.

Gloria captioned her post: “One of the many reasons I love you so much! Happy 47th Anniversary, mi morito lindo! I love you forever!” She also repeated the message in Spanish, delighting her fans with the bilingual note.

The anniversary followed a double celebration for the couple. On Monday, Sept. 1 — Gloria’s birthday — Emilio, 72, posted his own heartfelt message on Instagram. Alongside a throwback photo from their 1978 wedding, he wrote: “After 47 years by your side, I continue to give thanks for the incredible family we have built and for having found in you the greatest gift of my life. It has been a blessing to share this journey with you, a woman I deeply admire. May God continue to bless us with health to enjoy our family and our career together. Happy birthday and happy early anniversary!”

The Estefan’s: A Love Story Spanning Nearly Five Decades

Gloria and Emilio’s love story began in 1975 at a jam session when she was 17 and he was 22. Two years later, they formed their band, Miami Sound Machine, and in 1978, they married. The couple went on to welcome two children, son Nayib, 45, and daughter Emily, 30.

Over the years, the Estefans have become one of music’s most enduring power couples. In June, Gloria spoke to People about the secret to their long-lasting marriage. “All I can tell you is that respect is a big part of it,” she explained. “Admiration. We both admire each other. Commitment, because I feel like people are so instantaneous now.”

The “Conga” singer added that they have weathered challenges by staying united. “But I feel like a lot of people give up too quickly, and for us, everything we’ve gone through has just deepened the experience,” Gloria said.

“Every challenge, every tough moment, we’ve been there for each other, and we’ve been like an unbreakable wall, together. You need that. You need to have somebody in your corner, and you need to be in your partner’s corner. There’s always a balance.”

Gloria also shared that part of their success comes from keeping egos out of their relationship. “I want the best for him. He wants the best for me. There’s no competition,” she said.
