Taylor Swift used her Wednesday, Aug. 13, surprise appearance on the “New Heights” podcast to share a lighthearted story from her London Eras Tour.
Swift recalled the moment Jason Kelce ended up meeting the royal family after her show.
After her show, Jason Kelce met Prince William along with Prince George and Princess Charlotte backstage.
Swift noted how the retired NFL star froze for a moment, unsure what to do with the beer he was holding.
“I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, ‘But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it,’” Swift told the Kelce brothers, mimicking his hesitant hand movements.
She added with a laugh, “Like if I don’t have my beer, what do I do with this hand now?”
Jason confirmed that was exactly what was going through his head at the time. Swift called the entire exchange “fantastic,” turning a small backstage interaction into a charming anecdote.
The meet-and-greet ended with a now-famous selfie featuring Swift, Travis Kelce, Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte.
The shot marked the first time Swift had posted a photo with Travis on Instagram, making it a moment that resonated both with fans of her music and NFL followers.
How Swift Met Travis Kelce
Jason Kelce was not the only one to get teased while Swift appeared on the podcast.
She gave her version of how she met Travis Kelce. He famously talked about how he tried and failed to meet Swift on one of his previous podcasts.
“It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I WANT TO DATE YOU’,” Swift said. “This dude didn’t get a meet and greet, and he’s making it everyone’s problem. That’s what I thought at first.”
She added, “You realise he didn’t even reach out to our management. When this podcast came out, I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the [VIP] tents, or did we know he was in the building?’ He came with Pat [Mahomes, Travis’ teammate], and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady, he could talk to her about just getting down into my dressing room.”
Swift said she needed a little convincing before she ultimently got in contact with Travis Kelce.
The Life of a Showgirl
Swift also used the “New Heights” platform to reveal details about her next musical chapter.
Her twelfth studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” will be released Oct. 3, 2025.
The 12-track project includes a duet with Sabrina Carpenter and features titles such as “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Elizabeth Taylor,” “Ruin the Friendship,” “CANCELLED!” and the title track.
