Gwyneth Paltrow shared details about her friendship with Meghan Markle in an interview with People published on May 18.
The Goop founder said that although she and Markle aren’t close, they still have a casual relationship. “We have a text friendship so far. I’ve been traveling quite a bit,” she explained.
Addressing talk of a feud between them, Paltrow told the publication, “I don’t like that, when people try to pit women against each other.”
As for Markle’s Netflix lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan,” Paltrow is open to making an appearance. “Sure! Why not? You never know. I don’t bake that well, but I can always try,” she said.
Paltrow and Markle Shut Down Feud Rumors With a Surprising Joint Appearance
In an attempt to stop talk of beef between Paltrow and Markle, the two posted an Instagram Story together on March 25, the Daily Mail reported.
During a Q&A, a fan asked Paltrow, “Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?”
Paltrow answered, “I genuinely do not understand this at all whatsoever.” She asked the person beside her, “Do you understand this?” only to show Markle on the screen.
In March 18, Paltrow told Vanity Fair, “I donโt know Meghan and Harry. I mean, Iโve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I donโt know her at all.”
She then quipped, “Maybe Iโll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”
Referencing Goop and Markle’s lifestyle brand As Ever, Paltrow quickly shut down any competition between the two.
“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes. I think thereโs always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try,” she said.
Paltrow Reveals How She Deals With Controversy
Paltrow doesn’t let controversy faze her and she told Elle, “What Iโve learned over time is that if you are living in integrity, and you are putting out a product that fulfills its intention and is what it says it is, you move through controversy.”
She continued, “Because most of the time, itโs projected on you, and maybe itโll be advantageous for a competitor, or maybe itโs clickbait for media companies. But I really feel that if youโre true to yourself and making products in integrity, it does pass very quickly.”
Paltrow’s company Goop is still going strong after all these years and she shared, “Weโre opening new retail stores this year, and we are opening a lot more goop Kitchens this year. G. Label is growing beautifully. And itโs kind of a fun moment.”
