Disney is seemingly relying on remakes to meet its bottom line.
Thatโs well and fine when the movies turn out to be on par if not better than the original (see: โLilo and Stitchโ). Then there are the ones that simply arenโt (see: โPinnochioโ).
Soon enough, Disney aficionados who were unable to see the latest remake, โSnow White,โ will be able to watch the movie from the comfort of home.
The Prince Will Come Soon
Soon is the operative word. Disney announced that the film will drop on Disney+ on June 11. Thatโs 82 days from the movieโs original March 21 release. Roughly 90 days has become the norm.
โSnow Whiteโ stars Rachel Zegler in the titular role as she runs away from her evil stepmother (Gal Gadot) and starts a new life with seven dwarfs. The movie also stars Andrew Burnap, Jeremy Swift, Titus Burgess and more.
The movie was plagued with reshoots and a delay thanks to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. It also found controversy in story changes, the usage of the seven dwarves, and casting.
While โSnow Whiteโ was mired with outside woes, it did take in a modest box office. It made $205 million while the budget was said to be less than $270 million. Interestingly enough, its budget makes โSnow Whiteโ one of Disneyโs most expensive films.
Whistle While You Stream (From Home)
Andrew Garfield โSpider-Manโ franchise director Marc Webb helmed the movie that features songs from EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (โLa La Landโ).
11 brand new songs were made just for the movie. Joining โWhistle While You Workโ and โHeigh-Hoโ are Zeglerโs โWaiting on a Wishโ and Gadotโs โAll Is Fair.โ
A deluxe edition of the soundtrack can be found on streaming services and features instrumental versions of the songs alongside the score. This album boosts the albumโs run time to a whopping 107 minutes. That makes the record almost as long as the movie itself.
