Selena Gomez Dishes on How She Became ‘Best Friends’ With Taylor Swift

Selena Gomez shared the cute way she became friends with Taylor Swift!

The 33-year-old opened up while appearing on the “Therapuss with Jake Shane” podcast on Thursday, Aug. 7.

Gomez stated the two were going through breakups at the same time, and they just so happened to be dating brothers.

“Taylor [Swift] and I dated the Jonas Brothers,” Gomez told the host. “I dated Nick and she dated Joe. And everything was, it was cute, we were young.”

“At that age, [Swift and I] became best friends [and] bonded over the breakup,” the “Who Says” singer added. “As girls do. Then, I don’t know, we just stuck around for all the ups and downs that came after.”

Gomez added that it was roughly 16 years ago.

“We don’t know what we were doing — She and I like to say the best thing we got out of those relationships was each other because it was really sweet,” she added.

Gomez noted that everyone is friends again since the breakup from years past.

“We all know and love each other now, and it’s so cute,” she gushed.

Swift Played ‘Love Story’ for Gomez Before It Was Released

The former Disney Channel star also revealed she heard the iconic Swift song “Love Story” prior to it being released to the public. The song also just so happened to be the first time Swift played in front of Gomez.

“I believe ‘Love Story’ was the first song she had ever played me and it wasn’t released yet,” Gomez told the host. “Yeah, I was in a hotel room and I remember it vividly, it was just one of those songs I instantly heard and thought this is one of the most beautiful songs ever.”

Gomez gushed while she reminisced about the sweet moment the two shared many years ago.

“She was like, ‘Okay I just want to play you this song but just like you know, I don’t know it’s going to be the first single, I think, I think,’” she recalled Swift stating. “And just hearing her say those little thoughts and just listening to it. Yeah, she is a chameleon, she’s incredible.”

Swift Attended Gomez’s Latest Birthday Party

The “Good for You” singer celebrated her birthday on July 22 and had a party, which Swift attended.

Gomez shared on social media a series of images from the night.

Swift was spotted in one of the pics with her friend of many years. The two appeared to be in a ball pit, as Gomez reached toward the camera with her hand.
