They may not have collected trophies at the Grammys or the Super Bowl this year, but insiders say it appears to be all blue skies ahead for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce despite those disappointments.
In fact, Us Weekly quotes a source who says the couple are focused on finally getting to spend quality time together. Swift, 35, started her nearly two-year long Eras worldwide tour just a few months before the pair started dating.
Now, with that over and the NFL season wrapped up, the source says “there’s a sense of relief” for the couple, and that their plans include “laying low” and figuring out their next step. A second source says, “There’s no way to have a relationship when they’re all over the place with work. It’s going to be easier now to find time to go over plans and make sure everything aligns.”
Couple’s Family Agrees: Future Looks Bright
Travis Kelce’s dad seems to agree with that assessment. Ed Kelce told Australia’s Today show, “I think we get past the Super Bowl, I think it’s going to be a very good period for the two of them without the NFL season, without the Eras Tour. Just them alone, really connecting more. And I think that can only be a good thing.”
In the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl, there was speculation that Kelce would propose if the Chiefs were victorious. The NFL star played coy with reporters who asked him whether he’d pop the question at halftime. “Wouldn’t you like to know,” he said, smiling at the camera.
Dad Ed Kelce told Australia’s Jimmy & Nath Breakfast Show that he’d steer his son away from doing something so publicly. “My advice to him would be… I think your engagement needs to be separate from any other event,” Ed said. “It has to be about the two of you.”
How Taylor and Travis Might Spend Their Down Time
According to US Weekly’s source, Taylor and Travis plan to spend a few months unwinding in Kansas City. “They both want to rest and decompress. Neither of them have huge commitments coming up,” the source says. The article’s second source adds they also have plans to travel, saying, “Taylor wants to go to multiple places in Europe and somewhere tropical.”
Fans Aren’t the Only Ones Hoping for a Proposal
Friends of the couple hope those travel plans include a proposal. “Those close to them actually think [Travis may do it] while they’re on vacation,” the second Us source says, with the first adding, “They are both on the same page about taking the next step.”
Another big move that may be in the cards: buying a house together. Sources told Us the pair may spend some of their time in Kansas City house-hunting. “They want to look at real estate,” a source told Us in early February. “They’ve talked about buying a home together.”
