It has been many years since the news first broke about LeAnn Rimes’ affair with her now-husband, Eddie Cibrian, who was formerly married to โReal Housewives of Beverly Hillsโ star Brandi Glanville. She reflected on that time in her life and shared some understanding about why so many women treated her so harshly in a July 2025 cover story with Flow Space.
โI realized very quickly that there are a lot of women whoโve been hurt,โ Rimes said in the interview.
LeAnn Felt Like a ‘Target’ When Her Affair Went Public
GettyIn her new interview, Rimes admits that she understands the anger that women carry after being cheated on and feels that she became an easy target for projection.
โLike, Iโve been on both sides of that coin โ Iโve been cheated on, too, so I know that feeling,โ she explained. โBut so many women donโt know what to do with that anger. โฆ I was a target that was just easily projected upon.โ
Once LeAnn realized this, โthings got a lot easier,โ and she then stopped โtaking it so personally.โ
โThis is not all my pain to carry. I know what Iโm responsible for in the situation and making amends for that,โ she added.
The coupleโs affair began in 2008 while they were filming the Lifetime movie โNorthern Lights.โ Rimes and Cibrian were both married at the time, to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanville, respectively.
They both separated from their respective partners in July 2009 before making their public debut as a couple that August.
The Secret to LeeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian’s Successful Marriage
In April 2025, Rimes and Cibrian celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary. When Flow Space asked him the secret to their successful marriage, Cibrian first joked, โBecause we are in bed by 7:30!โ
He then admitted that when it comes to their lifestyle, he follows Rimes’ lead. โShe is so proactive in her health journeyโemotionally, physically, spirituallyโthat itโs truly inspiring,โ he says.
The country star has been open about her struggle with perimenopause and wants to help educate others. She first started to experience symptoms in her late 30s and now takes hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to manage it.
โI thought I was crazy for about two years. I was waking up at 3 a.m. all the time, and having really, really heavy anxiety,โ she told Flow Space.
She sought help from Mindy Pelz, a doctor of chiropractic medicine and author of “The Menopause Reset,” who encouraged her to open up to her husband about what she was going through, she told the outlet.
โShe was like, โLook, Iโve seen marriages literally implode over thisโฆ because no one really explains it to [men],’โ Rimes recalled to Flow Space. โShe was always telling me, โIf youโre feeling something, express it to him.โ And I do; Iโm really vocal about it.โ
Cibrian told the outlet he feels like โone of the lucky onesโ because Rimes is so open with him. โShe really committed to learning and seeking out help early on. We were never in a position to wonder why these things were happening. We knew the why, which is a huge step for most couples.โ
