โThe Real Housewives of New York Cityโ may have some new cast members for season 16.
Less than a week after a โvery darkโ season 15 finale left some cast relationships seemingly beyond repair, a casting announcement posted on Shed Mediaโs Instagram page teased the potential of newcomers for next season.
โNow casting The Real Housewives of New York City,โ the post from the media company read. It was captioned with, โIt’s that time…๐come and get your apple.โ
More details were posted on Shed Mediaโs Instagram stories on January 27. The residence parameters for potential RHONY cast members were listed as โManhattan and Brooklyn.โ It was also noted that potential cast members should have an โorganic connection to someone on the cast.โ
In addition, the age range for applicants was suggested to be age 30s to 50s. It was stated that potential cast members should be living โa Bravo lifestyle,” but that โother Bravoleb referralsโ would not be considered.
In 2023, RHONY was rebooted for season 14 with an all-new cast, all of whom were invited back for season 15. The 15th season of RHONY starred Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan,ย Sai De Silva,ย Erin Lichy,ย Jessel Taank,ย Jenna Lyons, and Racquel Chevremont. ย Rebecca Minkoff appeared as a โfriendโ of the cast.
Fans Reacted to the RHONY Casting Call
Itโs no surprise that fans had a big response to the casting call issued after just two seasons with the current cast.
Many ignored the โno Bravolebsโ caveat, with some hoping to see the return of RHONY OGs or stars from other shows.
โLuann De Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley,โ one commenter suggested.
โItโs timeโฆ Lindsay Hubbard should be holding an apple,โ another fan wrote of the veteran โSummer Houseโ star.
“@lindsayhubbard is the obvious choice,โ another agreed.
While it’s unclear who would be replaced, some fans felt that feuding RHONY stars Whitfield and Hassan must go. The season 15 co-stars had a brutal finale fight that left the cast fractured.
Whitfield admitted she did not know if she would be asked back for season 16. โI mean, youโre never guaranteed,โ she told Rolling Stone in a January 2025 interview. โEven franchises that have been around for 17 years, itโs the same song and dance. You never know until a month before you pick back up filming โ you donโt know if youโre renewed, you donโt know who comes back, or any of these things.”
Andy Cohen Made a Casting Suggestion
โReal Housewives” producer Andy Cohenย has already dropped the name of one person he would like to see on the showโand she does have a connection to one of the cast members.
In a January 27 segment on his Sirius XM show โAndy Cohen Live,โ Cohen noted that actress Julia Fox expressed a desire to join RHONY. โAnd also, sheโs friendly with Jenna [Lyons],โ he noted to co-host John Hill. โLike, maybe this is actually.. and she is a New Yorker.โ
Cohenโs comment came after Fox appeared on late-night show โWatch What Happens Liveโ and suggested that he put her on RHONY. When he asked her if she would actually join the Bravo reality show, Fox replied, โYou know what? I would do a season and see how it goes. I just need to shake it up a little bit.โ
