“The Real Housewives of New York City” may have some new cast members for season 16.
Less than a week after a “very dark” season 15 finale left some cast relationships seemingly beyond repair, a casting announcement posted on Shed Media’s Instagram page teased the potential of newcomers for next season.
“Now casting The Real Housewives of New York City,” the post from the media company read. It was captioned with, “It’s that time…🍎come and get your apple.”
More details were posted on Shed Media’s Instagram stories on January 27. The residence parameters for potential RHONY cast members were listed as “Manhattan and Brooklyn.” It was also noted that potential cast members should have an “organic connection to someone on the cast.”
In addition, the age range for applicants was suggested to be age 30s to 50s. It was stated that potential cast members should be living “a Bravo lifestyle,” but that “other Bravoleb referrals” would not be considered.
In 2023, RHONY was rebooted for season 14 with an all-new cast, all of whom were invited back for season 15. The 15th season of RHONY starred Brynn Whitfield, Ubah Hassan, Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Jenna Lyons, and Racquel Chevremont. Rebecca Minkoff appeared as a “friend” of the cast.
Fans Reacted to the RHONY Casting Call
It’s no surprise that fans had a big response to the casting call issued after just two seasons with the current cast.
Many ignored the “no Bravolebs” caveat, with some hoping to see the return of RHONY OGs or stars from other shows.
“Luann De Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley,” one commenter suggested.
“It’s time… Lindsay Hubbard should be holding an apple,” another fan wrote of the veteran “Summer House” star.
“@lindsayhubbard is the obvious choice,” another agreed.
While it’s unclear who would be replaced, some fans felt that feuding RHONY stars Whitfield and Hassan must go. The season 15 co-stars had a brutal finale fight that left the cast fractured.
Whitfield admitted she did not know if she would be asked back for season 16. “I mean, you’re never guaranteed,” she told Rolling Stone in a January 2025 interview. “Even franchises that have been around for 17 years, it’s the same song and dance. You never know until a month before you pick back up filming — you don’t know if you’re renewed, you don’t know who comes back, or any of these things.”
Andy Cohen Made a Casting Suggestion
“Real Housewives” producer Andy Cohen has already dropped the name of one person he would like to see on the show—and she does have a connection to one of the cast members.
In a January 27 segment on his Sirius XM show “Andy Cohen Live,” Cohen noted that actress Julia Fox expressed a desire to join RHONY. “And also, she’s friendly with Jenna [Lyons],” he noted to co-host John Hill. “Like, maybe this is actually.. and she is a New Yorker.”
Cohen’s comment came after Fox appeared on late-night show “Watch What Happens Live” and suggested that he put her on RHONY. When he asked her if she would actually join the Bravo reality show, Fox replied, “You know what? I would do a season and see how it goes. I just need to shake it up a little bit.”
