Teddi Mellencamp revealed she is dating three months after announcing she filed for divorce from her husband Edwin Arroyave.
On January 24, the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum spoke out on her “Diamonds in the Rough” podcast and spilled the news to her co-host Erika Jayne. “It sounds crazy, but I’ve gone on a couple of dates, yes,” Mellencamp admitted.
Mellencamp was married to Arroyave for 13 years and shares children, Slate, 12, Cruz, 10, and Dove, 4, with him. She is also a stepmother to Arroyave’s teen daughter Isabella.
On November 1, 2024, the former RHOBH star took to Instagram to announce that she “made the difficult decision to file for divorce.”
Teddi Mellencamp Reconnected With a Guy From Her Past on a Dating App
Mellencamp, 43, met a not-so-new man on the dating app Hinge. “Well, so this is pretty crazy,” she told Jayne on their podcasts. “So, I signed up for Hinge and I was like, ‘This is a freaking joke. Why are only 28-year-olds reaching out to me? Like why?’ And then I realized it’s because I had my age down too low. I was like, I don’t need to be dating a 28-year-old…. I’m too old to figure out Hinge.”
“But there was somebody who messaged me and just complimented one of the photos. And it was weird, I recognized his face. I was like, ‘I know him,’” she said. “So, I let it sit for a couple of days.”
The accountability coach explained that the guy didn’t write her a message but sent a “rose” icon to express that he was interested in talking to her. All the while, she tried to recall where she had seen him before. “I was like, ‘Maybe I don’t know, maybe I’m going crazy or maybe he’s an actor,” she said of the familiar-looking man. “And then the other day, I just messaged him. And I was like, ‘By any chance did I meet you in like 1999? Are you friends with the following people?’ And he’s like, ‘Yes, Teddi, I was wondering if you were going to remember me.’”
Mellencamp told Jayne she first met the man when she moved to Los Angeles 25 years ago when she was just 19 years old. She didn’t share if they had dated in the past.
While she has been out on a few dates since her separation from Arroyave, Mellencamp noted that she had yet to go out with the man from her past. “He, particularly, I have not gone out with yet. Because [we’re just] talking and having conversation, and it’s that weird like, who knows?” she said. “But it’s been so long that I’m like, I don’t even know, like do people flirt or like play games?”
Teddi Mellencamp Admitted She Is Lonely at Times
Mellencamp has been open about the loneliness she experiences, especially when her kids are with their dad.
In a video post shared to Instagram in December, she wore green pajamas as she sang Celine Dion’s version of the Eric Carmen song “All by Myself.” “In my Bridget Jones era. If I didn’t laugh at myself, I would cry,” she captioned the clip. “First Christmas without my kids, and I know they’re in great hands with an amazing dad, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel some type of way.”
More recently she spoke on her podcast and admitted that while she likes some “alone time” to recharge, she does sometimes feel lonely. She even questioned if filing for divorce was the right move.
“There’s moments that I’m feeling now, where I feel really lonely. And I don’t know if those loneliness feelings mean that I’ve made a mistake or this is just something I have to get used to and this is the new change in my life,” she said. “I’m so embarrassed I’m getting emotional, but that it is such a confusing part of all of this.”
