Miley Cyrus Reveals the Surprising Reason She May Not Tour for Her New Album

Miley Cyrus recently released her new album, “Something Beautiful.” The record marks the Grammy winner’s first LP since 2023’s “Endless Summer Vacation,” which featured the chart-topping hit “Flowers.”  

Due to the new body of work, some fans are expecting a tour announcement soon. However, Miley sat down for a new interview in May and detailed why this may not happen.

Miley told Zane Lowe in an Apple Music interview released on May 21, “I had the Reinke’s edema, which is something that is abuse of the vocal cords.”

The former “Hannah Montana” star continued, “You know, being 21 and staying up, and drinking, and smoking, and partying after every show does not help, but also, in my case, it does not cause it. So my voice always sounded like this.” 

She went on to describe the condition, saying, “So, I have this very large polyp on my vocal cord, which has given me a lot of the tone and the texture that has made me who I am, but it’s extremely difficult to perform with because it’s like running a marathon with ankle weights on.”

Miley went on to say that even talking can be difficult at times. 

Miley Wants to Find Ways to Tour

Releasing a new album is a great way to connect to fans, but many performers agree there’s nothing like being on stage. Because of this, Miley says she has been trying to find ways to tour still without sacrificing her voice. 

She said, “I put a tour together like every other week because I want to do it, but it would have to be in a way that is sustainable for me in all the ways that we talked about.” Miley added that despite the issue with her vocal cords, she refuses to lip sync, which many singers do. 

She also shared her thoughts on why there are so many other artists who don’t tour as much. “It’s not free to tour, and so if I can’t play a certain amount of shows, it doesn’t actually mathematically make sense to do it. It’s why a lot of artists don’t tour as much as maybe they want to or used to, because to have it make sense, it’s really hard to not design a tour that’s gonna hurt you. Whether you have this [condition] or not,” she said.

Miley Recently Took to the Stage to Perform a New Song

Miley took to the stage to perform a new song, “Easy Lover.” The singer posted a clip of the performance to TikTok. She used the caption, “Last night at the Chateau Marmont was so special. Every Smiler in the room was handpicked from TikTok. It meant the world to hear you all sing along to new and unreleased music.”  

In the clip, Miley uses her dynamic voice to sing, “You got the love I always needed. Tie me to horses and I still wouldn’t leave ya.” Before joking to the crowd, “Where the hell is Bey?” This comes after the two collaborated on the song “II Most Wanted” from Beyoncé’s latest album. 

Notably, Miley also told Zane Lowe that the song was initially intended for Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” record. She said, “That one is funny because there’s an ad-lib where I say ‘Tell ’em B’, and that was Beyoncé, ’cause she was taking songs for her country album and that was a song I’d written for that.”

Miley’s “Something Beautiful” album arrived on May 30th via Columbia Records.
