The season finale of “Mini Reni” is going big, as designer Joanna Gaines teams up with former “Today Show” host Hoda Kotb!
The much-hyped episode premieres Wednesday, July 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
And while it’s the last episode in season one of Joanna’s new show “Mini Reni,” it’s full of firsts!
In a video posted to the Magnolia Network Instagram page, Hoda asks Jo, “Wait, you’re gonna come to New York?.” “Yes I’m coming to New York!,” Joanna replies. But then she admits to Hoda, “This is my first renovation outside of Waco!”
Joanna has renovated spaces for family, including her sister Mikey on “Fixer Upper.” She also featured her parents on “Mini Reni.” But Jo hasn’t taken on a celebrity client before.
But just like any other client for a “Mini Reni,” Joanna still had Hoda pick three words to guide the renovation. Hoda’s words were “white, bright and light.”
Hoda Kotb Reached Out to Joanna Gaines for Help
The Hoda-Joanna collab started at the beginning of the year, right after 60-year-old Kotb stepped down as host of the “Today Show” to spend more time with her daughters, Haley (8) and Hope (6).
She has since revealed that younger daughter Hope was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and requires constant monitoring.
Kotb moved her family to Bronxville, New York where she launched her wellness brand, Joy 101.
But she needed some help with her vision of what her brand’s offices would look like.
In an Instagram video, Hoda says, “I was like, ‘I don’t know anything about spaces.’ And I was thinking, ‘Who would I call who could help me? Who would know?’ And only one name popped in, and it was, like, clear as day, and it was Joanna.”
Hoda Kotb Asks Joanna Gaines to Make Office “Airy and Free”
Hoda Kotb told Joanna Gaines that she wants the office that houses operations for her new wellness app to be an “airy, and free” environment.
Explaining her vision for her company to Joanna, Hoda told Jo, “it’lll be an app, it’s going to be retreats, it’s going to be all the things, so this is going to be…” “Like the epicenter of all the ideas, the inspirations, so this needs to feel special,” Joanna chimed in. “Yes!” enthused Hoda.
Joanna went on, “As I stepped into that space for the first time, I thought, it’s like the perfect template for a ‘mini reni’ in that it’s white walls. It’s very simple, and all I need to do now is build on those layers, that story, and all the pretty stuff.”
