Egypt Sherrod is sharing some solid travel advice after encountering a scary situation during a recent hotel stay. See why the former HGTV “Married to Real Estate” star was understandably shaken as she advised fans to “trust your gut.”
Egypt Sherrod Shares ‘Scary’ Hotel Moment
On October 23, Sherrod took to Instagram to share a video about her hotel stay.
“Please stay alert! Trust your gut. When staying in hotels, secure your doors, check your surroundings, even take photos of how you left things,” Sherrod shared in the caption.
She continued, “If something doesn’t feel right, don’t take a chance. I moved to another room and pushed the sofa in front of the door. Paranoid? Overreactive? I think not … It’s called street smart.”
“Sophy Hotel, Hyde Park, Chicago … the night manager was sketchy and she told me there were no cameras that she can play back,” Sherrod noted.
The text on the video noted, “Scary! This really just happened.”
In the video, Sherrod revealed that the lock on the door that flips for extra security was compromised. The former HGTV star shared, “Here’s why, when you’re traveling on the road, you’ve got to pay attention and be astute.”
She noted that, while she had no complaints about the hotel, she returned to her room after a speaking engagement to find that the piece that flips over had been removed. The “Married to Real Estate” star called the situation a “red flag” and advised fans to be aware of their surroundings and make sure locks function.
Sherrod later shared an update, writing, “The manager Michael came to talk to me this morning, very nice and professional. He is investigating the incident fully and was extremely apologetic.”
