‘And Just Like That’ May Not Be Done After All Claims EP—Carrie Is ‘Still Alive’

Carrie Bradshaw may have one more column in her. Despite the “Sex and the City” spinoff “And Just Like That” wrapping its third season in August, executive producer Elisa Zuritsky says fans shouldn’t rule out another chapter.

Carrie Bradshaw’s ‘And Just Like That’ Story May Not Be Over

“Well, she’s alive, so it could happen,” Zuritsky told TV Line when asked if Sarah Jessica Parker could reprise the role of Carrie again. “Sarah Jessica is [creator] Michael Patrick King’s muse, and the reason he says, ‘I’ve said goodbye before and I’ve come back’ is because it’s true.”

The series debuted on HBO Max in 2021 and spanned three seasons, following Carrie (Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigated life, loss, and love in their fifties in New York City. For Zuritsky, the door is never fully closed.

“I am the eternal optimist. So I don’t like to be too final about things, and life is long. I mean, we’ve all seen lots of things happen,” she said.

Why ‘And Just Like That’ Still Has Potential

While Parker and King announced on Aug. 1 that season 3 would mark the end of the series, no official cancellation from HBO was ever issued. Costume designer Molly Rogers even told The Post she was never given a definitive “it’s over.” “It wasn’t like HBO sent an email saying, ‘pack your bags,’” Rogers explained. “I think that’s the only way these days to keep something a secret. Total blackout.”

Rogers, who also worked on “Sex and the City” and its two movies, admitted she suspected Carrie’s arc had reached a natural conclusion when she read the season 3 finale script. “I read it and I started thinking, ‘oh yeah,’” she said, pointing to “subliminal messages” that hinted Carrie would end up content on her own.

Still, Zuritsky revealed she keeps notes of ideas for potential stories on her phone, should Parker, Nixon, and Davis decide to reunite. “We serve at [King’s] pleasure,” she told TV Line. “Carrie Bradshaw is still alive.”

Sarah Jessica Parker and Michael Patrick King Shocked Fans With Surprise Announcements

Sarah Jessica Parker, who has played Carrie since 1998, reflected on the bittersweet news in an emotional Instagram post. “Carrie Bradshaw has dominated my professional heartbeat for 27 years. I think I have loved her most of all,” Parker wrote. “She crossed streets, avenues, rubicons, so it seemed. She broke hearts, heels, habits. She loved, lost, won, tripped, leaped, fell short and into puddles, aged, got wiser.”

King, meanwhile, insisted the show wasn’t canceled so much as it reached a natural resting point. “While I was writing the last episode of ‘And Just Like That…’ season 3, it became clear to me that this might be a wonderful place to stop,” he shared on social media.

The finale ended with Carrie alone in her apartment, seemingly at peace with being single. But as Zuritsky teased, with Carrie Bradshaw, nothing is ever truly final.
