“Rock the Block” season six may be in the books, but it’s effects keep rocking the Utah town where this year’s builds are on the market.
In an Instagram post, season six builder Hamlet Homes revealed that it was able to donate more than $41,000 to Home Aid Utah thanks to the show. That money was raised from a special โAuction the Blockโ where the builders sold off items from each of the four properties in Grantsville, Utah that couldn’t stay with the homes.
That included Jonathan and Jordan Knight’s greenhouse and goat barn, and Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd’s container home.
The builders also auctioned off baskets full of each designerโs favorite things, โRock the Blockโ ballcaps and other goodies, all during a “Block Party Weekend” where the builder let fans of the show come tour all four homes.
In the Instagram post about the donation, Hamlet Homes wrote, “Thanks to everyone who purchased auction items and swag at Block Party Weekend, we were able to donate $41,500 to @homeaidutah to help provide safe housing for those who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Your donations will help impact the lives of so many people, thank you! ๐”
Hamlet Homes Blog Gives Insight Into ‘Rock the Block’ Experience
“Rock the Block” builder Hamlet Homes has also posted a series of blogs on its website revealing what it was like on set.
In the blog, they write, “Here at Hamlet Homes, we had the absolute honor of being theย official builderย for Rock the Block Season 6โand weโre still catching our breath. Weโd never done anything like this before, and honestly? We probably never will again. It was fun, hard, hot, cold (sometimes in the same day), and packed with early mornings, late nights, and behind-the-scenes chaos that we wouldnโt trade for anything.”
The blog reveals that the weeks of the build involved a lot of walking on a 10-acre set, ever-changing weather and a lot of other behind-the-scenes craziness. They wrote, “We had surprise snowstorms, 80-degree days in October, and costume parties for Halloween. We celebrated Ty Penningtonโs birthday with โTies and Thaiโ (Jonathan Knight had to help with the tie part), and we may or may not have taken turns jumping on the set trampolines when no one was looking.”
The blog also reveals that Hamlet Homes invited the Mayor and City Council of Grantsvilleย come out to watch the show being filmed. They wrote, “Itโs safe to say this will always be a proud moment for our community.”
Hamlet Homes Breaks Down Their Impression of the ‘RTB’ Designers
In the blog, Hamlet Homes owner Tami Ostmark also gives her take on each team of designers.
She writes, “Chelsie & Coleย (yes, fromย Down Home Fabย fame!) were as fun in person as they are on-screen. And shoutout to their local love, grabbing cute cowboy hats fromย Pipsy Hats, a fave shop right here in Utah.”
Then she gives her take on the Kalamas, writing, “Tristyn & Kamohaiย brought heart, style, and aloha vibesโand a special connection to Utah that made their presence even more meaningful.”
As for the winning team of Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd, she writes, “Alison Victoria & Michelle Smith Boyd, Season 4 royalty, brought the glam and the guts. Total powerhouses.”
And then there are the New Kids on the Block, brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight. She writes about them, ”ย Jonathan & Jordan Knightย (cue the inner 90s fangirl) whose New Kids on the Block flair added a little extra sparkle to the whole experience.”
